seeing and hearing Michelle & Barack Obama the evening before the re-election was an amazing opportunity. The crowd was extremely nice and I was lucky to not run into any right wing hate "preachers", unfortunately others weren't so lucky :( The energy was positive, though I felt there could have been more. I would have loved for a better opening act, but Bruce did his thing..and it was ok. Michelle was elegant with this beautiful mix of soft strength in her opening statement and introduction of Barack...and Barack, like so many times before delivered a heartfelt - very human speech.

I love that Luke came with and helped encourage me to move forward...to get closer...even though he is so jaded and politics only make him angry // he supported my last minute desire to see our president speak. xoxo luke! I was also happy to have been able to bring my sister along with us and meet up with our brother and a few of his friends. It was a memorable night.

I have attended just a few political events, one being the famous Howard Dean speech in 2004 in Iowa. It being the first one I had attended, I didn't realize that how he was acting was completely out of line..the crowd set the tone and he fed off of the hollering and chanting and just exploded on stage.

Following that I was in Boston where John Kerry received the heartbreaking news that he'd lost to President George Bush - the crowd was devastated...i think the only highlight of that night was accidentally running into Jake Gyllenhaal and then asking for a photo with him (he was pretty upset about the loss and not overly excited to be taking his photo with a bunch of college girls...but he agreed)

lastly, earlier this year luke attended a republican convention in ames so that he could go and show ron paul his support… and I agreed to go with – out of curiosity – ..it was an awful experience…it was all in my head, but i felt completely out of place and uncomfortable. Perhaps it was the over abundance of various pins with statements i didn’t agree with, or scare tactic imagery of unborn baby fetuses … i didn’t feel comfortable being a head count when i didn’t support their missions….so i freaked. sorry luke, not sure i can go to that again with you…let’s support the green party or justice party…or maybe another libertarian candidate…let’s hope the other presidential candidates of our futures have a better chance and that this two party system dissolves itself…ya? yeah!
